IR Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module for Arduino

The sensor module's light is adaptable to the environment. It has a pair of infrared transmitting and receiving tubes. The infrared tube emits a certain frequency. When the detecting direction meets an obstacle (reflecting surface), the reflected infrared is received by the tube. After comparator circuit processing, a green indicator lights up, and simultaneously, the signal output interface outputs a digital signal (a low-level signal). The detection distance can be adjusted via the potentiometer knob. The effective distance range is 2–30 cm, and the working voltage is 3.3V to 5V. The sensor's detection range is adjustable via the potentiometer and has minimal interference. It is easy to assemble and use and can be widely used in robot obstacle avoidance, obstacle avoidance cars, line counting, and black and white line tracking, among many other applications.

Module parameters:
1. When the module detects obstacles in front of the signal, the green indicator on the circuit board lights up, and simultaneously, the OUT port outputs a low-level signal. The detection module ranges from 2–30 cm, with a 35° detection angle. The detection distance can be adjusted via the potentiometer. Turning the potentiometer clockwise increases the detection distance; counter-clockwise decreases it.
2. The sensor uses active infrared reflection detection; therefore, the reflectivity and shape of the target are key to the detection range. A white object has a shorter detection range than a black object; a small object has a shorter distance than a large object.
3. The sensor module's output port, OUT, can be directly connected to a microcontroller's IO port or can directly drive a 5V relay; Connection mode: VCC – VCC; GND – GND; OUT – IO.
4. The comparator uses the LM393, ensuring stable operation.
5. The module can be powered using a 3–5V DC power supply. When powered on, the red power indicator light illuminates.
6. 3 mm screw holes allow for easy and secure mounting.
7. Circuit board size: 3.2 cm × 1.4 cm
8. Each module is shipped with the comparator threshold voltage already adjusted via the potentiometer. Unless absolutely necessary, please do not adjust the potentiometer.

Module interface specification
1. VCC voltage is 3.3V to 5V (can be directly connected to a 5V microcontroller and a 3.3V one).
2. GND: external GND
3. OUT: small board digital output interface (0 and 1)
